President of Nigeria’s Shari’ah Council, Sheikh Abdul Rasheed Hadiyatullah, Passes Away

The Supreme Council for Shari’ah in Nigeria (SCSN) has lost its esteemed President, Sheikh Abdul Rasheed Hadiyatullah. His death was announced by the Grand Mufti of Yorubaland, Sheikh Daood Imran Molaasan, in an official statement released on Monday evening.

Although the details surrounding the time and place of his passing remain undisclosed, the news has deeply saddened the Nigerian Muslim community and beyond.

In his tribute, Sheikh Molaasan described Sheikh Hadiyatullah as a pillar of Islamic leadership in Nigeria. His passing marks a significant loss to Islamic jurisprudence and leadership in our country,” he noted.

Born in Iwo, a city in Osun State renowned for its strong Islamic roots, Sheikh Hadiyatullah was widely recognized as a prominent Islamic scholar and jurist. He was also a strong voice in promoting interfaith dialogue and unity among Nigeria’s diverse religious groups.

During his tenure as President of the Shari’ah Council, Sheikh Hadiyatullah played a vital role in guiding the Muslim community through both challenging and progressive times. His leadership was defined by wisdom, integrity, and a calm demeanor that earned him admiration nationwide.
