JNI Strongly Condemns Katsina Mosque Terror Attack

The Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JNI) has denounced the recent terrorist assault on a mosque in Ungwan Mantau, Malumfashi Local Government Area of Katsina State, which claimed several lives during early morning prayers.

In a statement released on Sunday in Kaduna, the Secretary-General of JNI, Prof. Khalid Aliyu, described the attack as “barbaric and senseless,” expressing deep shock that innocent worshippers were targeted while observing prayers.

Under the leadership of His Eminence, the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar, JNI is in complete disbelief that worshippers would be attacked in a mosque during the early hours of prayer. This act is strongly condemned in its entirety,” Aliyu stated.

He called on the Nigerian government to adopt decisive and proactive strategies to curb the worsening insecurity across the country. Aliyu lamented that previous appeals for action had been ignored, allowing such violent incidents to persist.

Quoting from the Qur’an and Nigeria’s Constitution, he emphasized the sanctity of human life and reminded authorities of their responsibility to safeguard citizens.

The JNI further urged stronger collaboration among security agencies, religious institutions, and community leaders in order to develop sustainable solutions to Nigeria’s security challenges.

Prof. Aliyu also appealed to the public to provide credible intelligence to security operatives to help avert future attacks.

The statement concluded with prayers for the souls of the deceased and comfort for their families:

“JNI prays for Allah’s forgiveness upon the victims, strength for their families, and divine guidance for leaders in their duty to protect lives and property. We also pray for the downfall of the enemies of Nigeria and the failure of their evil schemes.”
