The Baba Adinni of Lagos, Alhaji Sikiru Alabi-Macfoy, has accused certain prominent figures in the state of instigating unrest within the Lagos Central Mosque.
According to Alhaji Alabi-Macfoy, tensions have persisted since he secured his position, defeating the preferred candidate of some elder statesmen. He claims that these individuals have refused to acknowledge his leadership and have attempted to make mosque administration challenging for him.
He further alleged that multiple efforts have been made to remove him from office, all of which have been unsuccessful. Additionally, he accused these stakeholders of repeatedly filing baseless allegations against him, leading to his summons at various police stations.

Yesterday, I was at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti, following an invitation. Upon arrival, I was accused of disrupting a Ramadan lecture organized by the Chief Imam of Lagos, Sheikh Sulaiman Abou-Nolla, at the Central Mosque. I clarified that I was not present at the mosque during the event, making the allegation entirely unfounded. However, despite my explanation, I was charged in court,” he stated.
Reports indicate that Alhaji Alabi-Macfoy pleaded not guilty to the charge and was granted bail by the court. The case has been adjourned until April 16.
Reflecting on the ongoing developments, he described the situation as regrettable and unwarranted.
“I have always been a peace-loving individual and have served as one of the longest-standing administrators of the Lagos Central Mosque with an unblemished record. Despite these challenges, I remain committed to maintaining harmony with all stakeholders,” he said.
