In her official statement, the Chief Minister highlighted the historic importance of May 28, 1998, noting that Pakistan’s nuclear achievements remain a source of unwavering national pride.
“Nearly three decades on, the spirit of May 28 continues to strengthen our unity. It serves as a bold reminder to the world that Pakistan stands strong and self-reliant,” said Maryam Nawaz.
Reflecting on the strategic importance of the occasion, she added,
“Pakistan’s nuclear status is not only a milestone for our country but a profound source of pride for the entire Muslim Ummah. With the blessings of Allah Almighty, we became the first Muslim nation to attain nuclear capability, a moment that reshaped our defense landscape forever.”
The Chief Minister emphasized the monumental significance of the Chagai nuclear tests, describing them as the outcome of strategic vision and national courage.
“The powerful cry of ‘Takbeer’ that echoed through the mountains of Chagai on that day still resonates in the soul of our nation,” she remarked.
Maryam Nawaz also paid homage to her father and former Prime Minister, Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, for his steadfast leadership during a critical chapter in Pakistan’s history.

“It was the courageous decision-making of Nawaz Sharif that led to this transformative moment. The people of Pakistan owe a debt of gratitude to his commitment and foresight. History reminds us that when bold leadership was needed, it was delivered by the PML-N government,” she said.
Concluding her message, the Chief Minister reiterated that Pakistan’s nuclear strength remains a symbol of peace, national security, and a guarantor of sovereignty.
“Our nuclear capability is not meant for aggression but for deterrence. It stands as a shield for our dignity, a cornerstone of our national defense, and a reassurance to every Pakistani that their future is protected.”
