Doha, Qatar – May 20, 2025: The State of Qatar, through its Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, is actively participating in the 37th session of the GCC Standing Committee of Experts in Islamic Affairs and Awqaf, currently taking place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, from May 20 to 21, 2025.
Simultaneously, the Qatari delegation is also engaging in the 12th meeting of the Committee on Promoting the True Image of Islam and Combating Hatred, Intolerance, Extremism, and Sectarianism.
The Qatari team is led by His Excellency Dr. Sheikh Khalid bin Mohammed bin Ghanem Al Thani, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, accompanied by senior ministry officials and department directors.

Hosted at the GCC General Secretariat headquarters, the meetings focus on reviewing a variety of research contributions, strategic proposals, and shared experiences among the Gulf states. Key topics on the agenda include:
Enhancing cooperation in Islamic endowment (Waqf) management through knowledge exchange and case studies
- Advertisement -Sharing national strategies and best practices in Islamic affairs
Advancing the GCC Endowment Week initiative
In addition, several member countries presented notable proposals. Among them:
Kuwait proposed:
- Advertisement -A comprehensive framework titled “Standards and Guidelines for Imams to Succeed in Their Social Roles”
An “Intellectual Security Charter” to guide mosque leaders and track implementation indicators
A concept paper on “The Philosophy of Attracting Positive Energy” within Islamic communities
Saudi Arabia introduced:
A study on “The Role of Artificial Intelligence in Advancing Islamic Affairs”
Technical standards for mosque construction and development to promote efficiency and sustainability
These deliberations reflect the GCC’s shared commitment to reinforcing Islamic values, improving religious administration, and countering ideological threats through collaborative initiatives and regional solidarity.
