Saudi Arabia has strongly condemned Israel’s recent airstrikes in Syria, accusing the country of escalating regional tensions and violating international law.
In an official statement on Tuesday, the Saudi Foreign Ministry expressed its “unequivocal condemnation and denunciation” of the attacks, labeling them a “clear breach of international law.” The ministry criticized Israel for actions that it described as efforts to destabilize Syria and the broader region.
“These repeated violations not only threaten Syria’s security but also undermine regional stability,” the statement read. “Such acts stand in direct contravention of established international agreements and legal frameworks.”
Saudi Arabia urged the international community to take a firm stand against Israel’s continued military operations in Syria, calling on the United Nations Security Council to fulfill its responsibilities in curbing further escalation. The kingdom also emphasized the need for mechanisms to hold Israel accountable for its actions and reaffirmed its solidarity with the Syrian government and its people.
The condemnation follows a deadly airstrike on Monday in the southern Syrian city of Daraa. According to Syria’s civil defense forces, the attack resulted in the deaths of three individuals and left 19 others injured, including four children and a woman.

Tensions have intensified since Israel expanded its control over the occupied Syrian Golan Heights, seizing the demilitarized buffer zone in a move that violated the 1974 disengagement agreement. Reports indicate that Israel has carried out numerous airstrikes targeting military infrastructure in Syria, including fighter jets, missile systems, and air defense facilities.
Meanwhile, Syria has undergone significant political upheaval. The long-standing rule of Bashar al-Assad came to an abrupt end in December when opposition forces seized Damascus, leading to the collapse of the Baath Party’s decades-long regime. Assad, who governed Syria for nearly 25 years, reportedly fled to Russia following the takeover on December 8.
As geopolitical tensions continue to rise, Saudi Arabia’s latest call for international intervention underscores growing concerns over the broader implications of Israel’s military actions in the region.
