Success Grows In Humility

Allah Almighty describes believers in his namesake chapter: “Speaking” (which means): “Indeed, those who fear the fear of their Lord” and those who believe in the signs of their Lord. And those who do not associate anything with their Lord * And those who give away what they give, while their hearts are afraid, because they will return to their Lord.} [Quran 23:57-60] One may ask what it is that believers are afraid, although they are in a hurry to do good deeds and strive to surpass others in this regard.

And yet, our surprise would increase when we consider a similar response from the Prophets, may Allah be their mention when their petition is sought. The Prophet (SAW) said that on the Day of Judgment people “will go to Adam (Adam), may Allah exalt his mention and say:” O our father, ask Allah to open to us door of Paradise. ” He will say: “Did anything get you out of Paradise , except the sin of your father, Aadam? I am not in a position today to [intercede]; you must go to my son Ibrahim (Abraham), may Allah abide his mention, a close friend of Allah. ” [But, when they will come to him], Ibrahim will say: “I am not able to do this. Truly, I was a friend. you must come closer to the Muse (Moses), may Allah be his mention, to which Allah Almighty spoke directly with: “They will go to the Musa, but he will say:“ This is not my place; you must go to Jesus, to the Word of Allah and His Spirit. ” However, Jesus, (AS), will say: “I am not able to do this.” Therefore they will come to [me], Muhammad (saw) and [I] will be allowed [to intercede]”. [Al-Bukhari and Muslim]

This honorable response of the Prophets, may Allah exalt his mention, during these significant circumstances indicates their constant desire to participate in the acts of worship and their tireless efforts to end small sins. This position marks their desire to improve their slavery to Allah Almighty. What a sublime characteristic for the soul always reaches for the highest of ranks! Such souls will never be satisfied with achieving a status below their abilities; therefore, Abu Bakr, perhaps, was pleased with him by Allah, for example, sought to enter Paradise from all its gates.

What is humility?

Be humble – be aware of your sins and feel sorry for your shortcomings, since Allah Almighty says (what it means): {So that the soul would not say, “Oh, [how great is] my regret that I neglected towards Allah}. [Quran 39: 56] And this characteristic of humility increases with knowledge, as Allah Almighty Says (which means): {Only those who fear Allah, from His servants who have knowledge} [Quran 35:28],

To achieve humility, you need to blame and try to improve it; indeed, Allah Almighty Says (which means): {He succeeded, who purifies him [the soul]} [Quran 91: 9]. Such piety and sincerity that accepting good deeds depends on how Allah Almighty Says (which means): {Of course, Allah [graciously] accepts only pious.} [Quran 5:28]. Also, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “[accepting] deeds [depends] on intentions, and the person will bear the consequences of what he [or she] intends …” “Without piety and sincerity, mercy of mercy, knowledge of the recitaries of the Qur’an and the martyrdom of martyrs would be fruitless; besides, those whose deeds are devoid of loyalty will be the first to enter hell.

Abu Ayoob al-Sikhiyiyan can pardon Allah so that he humbly said: “By Allah, I cannot say that I have an act that I am sure that I have done sincerely”; Al-Tahabi, another pious man, would agree. Similarly, Suleymaan ibn Mahraan al-Hamas may pardon Allah, said: “By Allah, I believe that I became discouraged because the devil often urinates in my ears.” This refers to the statement of the Prophet (sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam), who noted that the man who sleeps all night is the one in whose ears Satan urinated. What is surprising is that Suleymaan may have mercy on Allah to give this comment, although he loved to pray at night.

To be humble is to often remember the Last Life, not to love worldly pleasures and to strive for salvation. “Umar, may Allah be pleased with him, used to say:“ How could you forget the verse of the Quran, in which Allah Almighty [tells us what will be said to those entering Hell] (this means): {You have exhausted your pleasures during your worldly life and enjoyed them} [Quran 46:20]? “He understood this also from the Prophet (sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam), who once asked him:” Are you not happy with this division that they [i.e., the disbelievers] enjoy the luxury of this life, and we are reaping the benefits of a future life? ”

And, humbly, to be afraid, more than hope for this day, and be sure of what will happen when {He can ask the truth about their truth} [Qur’an 33:8], {secrets will be sent to court} [Qur’an 86:9]and when every traitor will be known by the sign. On this day {their justification will not benefit the villains, and they will have the curse and the worst house} [Qur’an 40:52], andand [they will see from Allah that He did not take into account.} [Qur’an 39:47], And Allah Almighty will tell the villains (which means) {Remains despicable in him [Hell] and do not speak with me.} [Quran 23:108]

This is a true understanding of religion, because {no one feels safe from the plan of Allah, except people with a loss.}[Quran 7:99] Thus, Imam Al-Bukhari entitled the head of his book Sahih Al-Bukhari: “The believer’s fear is that his affairs were canceled when they did not know.”

Ibrarahim Al-Taymiyah may pardon Allah, said: “I have never compared my deeds with my words without fearing that I am a liar.” It was in the spirit of the Companions, may Allah be pleased with him, as Ibn Abi Mulayk may Allah have mercy on him, narrates that out of thirty of them he met, everyone was afraid that he could be a hypocrite. None of them claimed that he is as faithful as Jibril (Gabriel), whether Allah can announce his mention, and Michael (Michael), whether Allah can raise his mention.

Indeed, it was characteristic of believers, since Al-Hassan could pardon Allah, said that the hypocrites, on the other hand, felt safe from this anxiety. A Muslim must defend himself from insistence on hypocrisy and disobedience without repentance; Allah Almighty admires those who say (which means): {[who] don’t insist on what they did when they know.} [Quran 3:135]
Humility also requires us to ally with believers and be obedient to them. Allah Almighty Says (which means):

• {And lower your wing to those who follow you, believers.} [Quran 26:215]
• {And keep yourself patient [by being] with those who call upon their Lord in the morning and evening, seeking His face. And do not let your eyes go behind them, not wanting to decorate worldly life.} [Quran 18:28]

The people of Nooh (Noah), may Allah exalt his mention, foolishly said to him: {We do not see you, but as a person like us, and we don’t see you except those who are the lowest among us [and] at first.} [Quran 11:27] But he denied their allegations, saying: {And I am not one of those who believed. In fact, they will meet their Lord, but I see that you are people who behave ignorantly. * And oh my people who will protect me from Allah, if I drive them away? Then you will not be reminded? [..] I am also not talking about those who are looking down at your eyes, that Allah will never give them anything good. Allah knows most of all what is in their souls. Indeed, then I would be among the criminals.} [Quran 11:29-31]

In addition, humility requires good manners on the part of the believer, as manifested in his or her general behavior. The Prophet sallallaahu ‘alaihiu alai and hail (may Allah bless him and welcomes) said: “Arrogance denies the truth and rights of others” he may Allah bless him and greet (may Allah bless him and welcome) also warned: “It’s enough for a person to sin to despise his Muslim brother”.

Consequently, Muslims consider it a religious obligation to act cordially with their brothers and sisters in the faith, for example, returning their greetings, helping them to raise them and meet them with a cheerful face.

And, since they perfectly observed these ethics, the righteous predecessors were described by Allah the Almighty as “humble towards believers”, [Qur’an 5:54], and “the merciful among themselves” [Qur’an 48:39]

Humility also manifests itself in knowing its real value among scientists and its value in comparison with them. Sheikh Ali Al-Kaari said: “These days, [those who know little, but are respected as] there are many scientists, because true knowledge has diminished. ”

Consider that the first who ever accepted Islam, Abu Bakr, may Allah be pleased with him, humbly refused to lead the people in prayer, saying: “I could not bring the Prophet, may Allah bless him and welcome (may Allah bless him and welcome) “. In addition, the Prophet’s son-in-law, may Allah bless and greet (may Allah bless him and welcome) Ali ibn Abi Taalib, may Allah be pleased with him, say to his son Muhammad ibn al-Hanafiyu: “Your father is just one of the Muslims.”

Similarly, Al-Hafeet Abu Al-Hajjaj Al-Muji declared Ibn al-Haadi when he checked his hold on Hadit, interrupting his chains of narrators: “I am not subject to such an ordeal; Al-Bukhari. Ibn Katier said: “This answer was more expensive for us than comparing each Hadit with his chain of stories.”

In addition, when a man asked Al-Hatib al-Baghdad: “Are you al-Hafeet (senior scientist Hadith) and al-Hateb (speaker)?” He could have mercy on Allah: “I am only Ahmad ibn Ali Ali ibn Thaabit ; Hadita’s last senior scientist was ad-Daarakutni. ”

At-Taadj Al-Subki’s father, At-Takki Al-Podkitay, may Allah pardon those who were then Daar-al-Ashrafiy’s scholars, who once performed night prayers, where his classes could pardon Allah Al-Nawawi. He would humbly wipe his face in the place where Al-Nawawi may have mercy on Allah, as recognition of the great role of the latter as a scientist.

In addition, humility must show due respect for Allah Almighty and thank Him for all that He has given us. Allah the Almighty praised His Prophet Ibrahaimah, may Allah be his mention, because he was accustomed to feel remorse for his sins and acts of disobedience.

The believer is sharp and wise; he admits that he is only the servant of Allah Almighty; His works are created by Him, his success depends on His decree and his progress thanks to His leadership.
Thus, the slogan of the Companions, may Allah be pleased with them, will be: “By Allah, without Allah, we would not receive any leadership and would not receive charity and would not pray.” They learned this spirit from the Prophet (bless and peace be upon him) (Allah bless him and welcome), who said to Aahishah, may Allah be pleased with her when she asked why he stood for so long in prayer that his legs would swell: should I not be thankful slaves of Allah? ”

May Allah have mercy on Al-Junaid, who succinctly said: “True gratitude is not to use the blessings of Allah Almighty to disobey Him.”
