The resting place of the Ark of Nuh (Peace be upon him)

Mount Judy is the resting place of the Ark, built by Nuh (peace be upon him) at the command of Allah. It is located in the south-east of Turkey, near the Syrian and Iraqi borders.

The Qur’an’s account of the Flood and Noah’s Ark is consistent with the Bible, with some variations. One of them concerns the last resting place of the Ark. According to the Book of Genesis, the Ark is based on the “mountains of Ararat”; while according to Quran 11:44 Surat Hud (Hud), the place of the last refuge of the ship was called Mount Judi:

“And it was said: “O earth! Swallow up your water, and O sky! Withhold (your rain).” And the water was diminished (made to subside) and the Decree (of Allah) was fulfilled (i.e. the destruction of the people of Nuh (Noah). And it (the ship) rested on Mount Judi, and it was said: “Away with the people who are Zalimûn (polytheists and wrong-doing)!” [11:44]
