Senegalese President Visits Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi

Bassirou Diomaye Faye, the President of Senegal, recently toured the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi. Accompanied by a delegation including Saeed Hamdan Al Naqbi, UAE Ambassador to Senegal; Babacar Matar Ndiaye, Senegal’s Ambassador to the UAE; and other senior officials, the President explored the mosque’s iconic halls and grand corridors under the guidance of Dr. Yousif Al Obaidli, Director-General of the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque Centre.

During the visit, the delegation delved into the mosque’s profound message of coexistence, tolerance, and cultural openness—principles deeply embedded in the legacy of the UAE’s Founding Father. They were also briefed on the mosque’s pivotal role in promoting a harmonious Islamic culture and fostering dialogue among diverse communities across the globe.

The tour highlighted the historical significance, architectural magnificence, and intricate Islamic artistry of the mosque, offering a glimpse into its global acclaim as a symbol of peace and unity.

To mark the occasion, President Faye received a copy of “Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque: Lights of Peace.” This commemorative book showcases stunning photographs from the “Spaces of Light” Photography Award, capturing the mosque’s architectural beauty and its essence as a beacon of cultural harmony.
