A disturbing incident unfolded in a village in Hathras district late Saturday night, where a seven-year-old girl was allegedly assaulted. The incident led to unrest, with a group of agitators vandalizing a local mosque, police officials reported.
The accused, identified as 19-year-old Aman Khan, has been taken into custody, authorities confirmed.
Law enforcement swiftly responded to the situation, ensuring that order was restored and preventing any further escalation of violence.
“The young girl’s condition remains critical. She was transferred to a hospital in Aligarh for urgent medical attention. To maintain peace and prevent any untoward incidents, a significant deployment of police and PAC personnel has been stationed in both the village and near the mosque,” stated Hathras Superintendent of Police Chiranjeev Nath Sinha.

Mohammed Sakaria, the mosque’s imam, recounted his narrow escape during the attack. “I was inside the mosque, teaching children when the mob barged in. They vandalized furniture and other belongings, but I managed to lock myself in a room and remained unharmed,” he claimed.
According to the police, the minor was in a local marketplace with other children when the accused allegedly lured her to an isolated spot before committing the crime. Reports indicate that Aman Khan had previously been arrested on rape charges two years ago and was released from a juvenile home last year.
Authorities continue to investigate the case while reinforcing security measures to prevent further unrest.
