Dubai: In anticipation of the arrival of millions of worshippers for Hajj 2025, the General Authority for the Care of the Affairs of the Grand Mosque in Mecca and the Prophet’s Mosque in Medina has revealed a large-scale operational plan designed to provide a safe, seamless, and spiritually enriching pilgrimage experience.
The newly unveiled field strategy includes a variety of service enhancements to accommodate the needs of international pilgrims while maintaining the highest standards of hospitality and organization.
Among the notable improvements is the allocation of 13 prayer zones dedicated to individuals with disabilities, ensuring inclusive access to worship. To facilitate smoother movement within the sprawling mosque complexes, authorities have commissioned 22 elevators and 224 escalators.

With pilgrims arriving from across the globe, religious and educational content will now be available in 27 different languages, enabling worshippers from diverse backgrounds to better connect with the spiritual aspects of Hajj.
A total of 199 entry and exit gates have been opened to optimize the flow of people and minimize congestion during peak prayer times. This is expected to significantly enhance crowd management across the sacred precincts.
To combat the intense summer heat, more than 883 air conditioning systems, 244 mist fans, and 3,139 ventilation units have been deployed. Additionally, 432 fragrance diffusers have been strategically placed to create a soothing and reverent environment within the holy spaces.
Mobility services have also been upgraded. 400 electric carts are available to assist elderly pilgrims and those with physical limitations, ensuring everyone can perform the rituals of Hajj with dignity and ease.
In terms of emergency readiness, 1,229 safety devices have been installed across high-traffic zones. Meanwhile, a sophisticated network of 8,000 loudspeakers has been set up to deliver religious sermons and logistical guidance in real time, covering both mosques and surrounding areas.
Libraries within the Grand Mosque and Prophet’s Mosque remain vital centers of knowledge, now offering access to 8,503 rare manuscripts as part of an ambitious digital preservation initiative.
To improve visibility and enhance safety, over 120,000 lighting units have been activated throughout the sacred complexes, creating a well-lit and secure environment for pilgrims at all times.
