UTME 2025: MUSWEN Defends JAMB Registrar Oloyede, Calls for Support Over Exam Hitches

Ibadan, Nigeria – The Muslim Ummah of South West Nigeria (MUSWEN) has expressed strong backing for Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, the Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), following recent disruptions experienced during the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

In a joint statement released on Friday and signed by Rasaki Oladejo (President) and Prof. Muslih-Tayo Yahya (Executive Secretary), MUSWEN emphasized that the JAMB leadership under Oloyede should be appreciated for its consistent reforms and not unfairly criticized for temporary technical issues.

“We acknowledge the concerns raised by candidates, their families, and stakeholders about the technical glitches experienced during the examinations,” the statement read. “However, these setbacks should not be used to undermine the hard-earned credibility and reforms Prof. Oloyede has introduced at JAMB.”

The organization, which serves as an umbrella body for various Muslim groups across the South West, highlighted Prof. Oloyede’s commendable record in public service. They noted that since his appointment, the JAMB Registrar has significantly improved transparency, enhanced operational efficiency, returned substantial revenue to the national treasury, and embraced digital innovation to combat examination malpractice.

MUSWEN called on all concerned parties, especially the media, civil society organizations, and policymakers, to engage constructively and avoid contributing to narratives that seek to tarnish public institutions over isolated challenges.

“Prof. Oloyede has consistently proven himself as a committed public servant with a vision for educational integrity,” MUSWEN said. “These technical challenges—while unfortunate—are not a reflection of his capability but a reminder of the need to strengthen infrastructure across the board.”

The organization appealed for patience and calm while urging stakeholders to support the ongoing reforms within JAMB, describing Prof. Oloyede as an agent of positive change.

“Let us not allow momentary setbacks to overshadow years of transformation. What Nigeria needs now is a united front in strengthening our institutions, not scapegoating those working tirelessly to reform them.”

Concluding their message, MUSWEN prayed for continued divine guidance and strength for public officials dedicated to national development.

“May Allah (SWT) continue to guide, protect, and empower all sincere public servants striving for the progress and betterment of our nation,” the statement ended.
