Bradford, UK – A man who was previously the victim of a brutal machete attack at a mosque in Bradford has now been sentenced to prison following a violent assault on a woman inside his vehicle.
Mohammed Hussain Khan, 30, of Round Street, Bradford, appeared before Bradford Crown Court on Tuesday, May 27, where he pleaded guilty to assault occasioning actual bodily harm. The court heard harrowing details of how Khan subjected the female victim to a terrifying one-hour ordeal.
According to Prosecutor Victoria Barker, the assault occurred in October last year. During the incident, Khan reportedly struck the woman repeatedly, kicked her in the head, and tore out chunks of her hair. At one point, he threatened to drive her to the moors and kill her. Throughout the ordeal, Khan drove recklessly around Bradford, taking the woman’s mobile phone and leaving her isolated and vulnerable.

In her impact statement, the victim described the horrifying experience, stating that she felt entirely helpless, with no way to call for assistance after Khan confiscated her phone, which she referred to as her “lifeline.”
During the proceedings, Khan’s defence solicitor, Safter Salam, revealed that his client had been suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) as a result of being stabbed with a machete during an incident at a local mosque in 2022. While Khan expressed remorse for his actions, the severity of the assault left the court with no option but to impose a custodial sentence.
Recorder Mark McKone KC sentenced Khan to 22 months in prison, emphasizing that the nature of the crime constituted serious and persistent domestic violence. The judge stated that the sentence could not be suspended due to the prolonged and violent nature of the assault. In addition to the jail term, Khan was handed a five-year restraining order, prohibiting any contact with the victim.
This case highlights ongoing concerns about domestic abuse and mental health struggles following traumatic events. Authorities continue to urge victims of abuse to seek help and report incidents to ensure safety and justice.
