Bangladeshi Mosques to Offer Special Jummah Prayers for Gaza Victims

In response to the escalating violence in Gaza, the Islamic Foundation of Bangladesh has announced that all mosques across the country will hold special prayers and munajat (supplications) following the Jummah prayers this Friday.

The call comes amid growing concern over the humanitarian catastrophe unfolding in Gaza, where Israeli military actions have led to widespread casualties and destruction. The Islamic Foundation, in an official statement, condemned what it described as “genocidal atrocities and relentless aggression” by Israeli forces, accusing them of deliberately targeting civilians and cutting off essential supplies like food and water, thereby pushing the Palestinian population to the verge of famine.

Citing the global outcry across the Muslim world, the Foundation expressed profound grief and solidarity with the people of Gaza. The statement emphasized the importance of praying for those who have lost their lives, been injured, or displaced due to the ongoing violence.

“This is one of the most barbaric assaults in modern history,” the Foundation said, calling on the people of Bangladesh to stand united in spiritual support while maintaining peace and public order.

The Islamic Foundation has also urged imams and mosque committees to encourage worshippers to remain calm and law-abiding while expressing their solidarity with Palestinians. The emphasis was placed on raising public awareness about the importance of unity, patience, and peaceful protest.

This announcement comes in the wake of nationwide demonstrations across Bangladesh condemning the Israeli military offensive in Gaza. Citizens from various sectors — including students, activists, religious scholars, and professionals — have taken to the streets in rallies and processions, demanding an end to the attacks.

Earlier this week, Bangladesh also witnessed mass participation in the international “No Work, No School” campaign, as thousands boycotted daily activities to show support for the Palestinian cause. Peaceful demonstrations, human chains, and symbolic strikes were organized in major cities, reflecting a growing wave of public empathy and solidarity.

As tensions continue to rise globally over the situation in Gaza, Bangladesh’s Muslim community is turning to prayer and peaceful resistance as a means of support, urging the international community to take decisive action.
